Remit of the Prizes
Recognize accomplished young scientists for their innovative research at the intersection between biological, physical and/or mathematical sciences.
(PhD and Postdoc Prize Winners 2023)
Prize
We will award up to 2 PhD students and 2 Postdocs this year and each prize is £500.
Eligibility
The prizes will be awarded for work predominantly carried out in Cambridge.
PhD students
PhD students whose dissertation was submitted or defended between 1st November 2021 and 3rd March 2023.
Postdocs
Postdocs up to 4-years after the PhD defence at the application deadline.

3. Nomination letter . Either a self-nomination letter written by the PhD student/postdoc or a nomination letter written by their supervisor. The letter should highlight:
- Contribution of the nominee to the work – including collaborative efforts towards multidisciplinarity
- Project originality
- Independence
- Communication skills
3. One reference letter from a PI who is NOT the applicant’s supervisor.
All documents should be sent to admin@physbiol.cam.ac.uk. The CV, application form and self-nomination form should be submitted by the applicant, the nomination and reference letters directly by the applicant’s supervisor or other PI.
Evaluation Process
Applications will be reviewed by a committee panel with scientists from different disciplines.
Other considerations
The awardees will be invited to give a talk at a CPB event (tba) and the graphical abstract and lay summary of the their work will be published on the CPB website.
